Commercial Agency, EU Regulations, Distribution Agreements

The Commercial Agents Regulations are a special area of English law which incorporates European laws, the consequence of which is to introduce concepts which would not normally apply. To that extent it is a specialised legal field for any business sector where a commercial agent as defined may look to recover compensation at the end of the agency.

There are many technicalities as to liability and calculation of compensation which an experienced mediator can help to untangle.

Additionally agency and distribution agreements where the regulations do not apply are included as a further example of relevant commercial contracts. Finally I have managed a process of substance relating to a competition law dispute.

Charles Middleton-Smith is widely experienced in Commercial Agency cases. Below are examples of some recent engagements in this area:

  • Dispute over International Agency Agreement, Manufacturing Sector, allegations of illegality/bribery
  • Commercial Agents Regulations case – issues as to consequences of agent’s termination, and valuation
  • Business sector – lighting products
  • Commercial Agents Regulations case – issues as to valuation, pipeline transaction commission
  • Business sector – electrical and electronic products
  • Licence and distribution dispute relating to classical music video
  • Substantial three party competition law case in the energy sector
  • Several further Commercial Agency cases
